The week on Bird Island was the highlight, but the two stays on Mahe got us acclimatised and ready for the trip home."

Bird Island Lodge
"Bird Island Lodge review"
It seems to appeal to like-minded people who are nearly all repeat visitors most of whom are quiet, thoughtful and equally enchanted by this beautiful island teeming with birds.....the resident naturalist is a mine of interesting information as well as particularly pleasant company. Indeed all the staff from the manager down are all very friendly and efficient.
The Chalets are clean and comfortable, meals are delicious and people like us will keep going back as long as the place doesn't change. Whilst I have described activities and facilities as excellent, don't expect too many of either.
If you want five star luxury, fancy swimming pools and exotic spa treatments, or want somewhere to pose about, please go somewhere else !"

We particularly liked the quiet location in the south of the island."

Our previous visits to Mahe were to smart hotels at the relatively busy Beau Vallon Bay. By contrast the south of the island is delightfully quiet and far more relaxed, and the Chalets D'Anse Forbans reflected this.
The Chalets were comfortable and clean, and exactly what we wanted. No use at all to poseurs, those who want to go where the celebrities have been, or fans of fashionable spa treatments. But for those who want peaceful independence, the opportunity to explore the island and eat at local restaurants and generally do their own thing, perfect."
