My Sep 2013 trip
Zimbabwe between 23 Sep 2013 and 5 Oct 2013
"A very enjoyable holiday with the highlight the whole Camp Hwange experience. Victoria Falls was well worth seeing particularly when staying at the Vic Falls Hotel, a lovely old world hotel supplying excellent modern services. With hindsight I would now tailor the trip to include one more night in Camp Hwange and one less in Amalinda.
I am strongly recommending this to my family and hope they can enjoy this experience next year."

"Put together hours spent with passionate knowledgeable guides following and viewing a very wide variety of game with a charming and very hospitable dining room and relaxation lodge and you have the recipe for delighted guests.
The individual chalets were far from sparse, as they were described in one write up, and this camp is bound to be very successful."

Amalinda Lodge
"very different to camp hwange"
3 nights
Arrived

"The weather has a big effect on the availability of game and the tourists attitude, so a drop of 20degC from 40 in Hwange to 20 in Matopos is bound to colour my comments and the staff at Amalinda were very good but they suffered in comparison with Camp Hwange. It felt more like a"commercial organisation" which was relying a little too much on the funky chalets built into the rocks, which had their problems particularly when the power failed in the dark. Game viewing was O.K. but because of the temperature we didn't see Rhino until the 11th hour.
Enjoyable but if I had to miss out on something this would be my choice."

Bulawayo Club
"Charming old building and friendly staff"
2 nights

"An excellent place to stay when viewing old Bulawayo where the Natural History museum and the Railway museum were both very good.
The Art Gallery did not have much to offer, other than the only political satire I saw in Zimbabwe (two paintings, one of a Mugabe postered vehicle with a flat tyre and a Changiri vehicle where the wheel had come off)
Everything in the Club was charming apart from the shower facilities which were not as good as Hwange or Amalinda"
