Toka Leya Camp
"Toka Leya review"

Lebala Camp
"Brilliant game viewing at Lebala"
Our guide and tracker for the three days were Patna and Shoes: both excellent, listened to what we were interested in and found an amazing amount of game with leopard, cheetah and wild dogs being the mammal highlights. Also identified lots of birds as requested. We asked for an aardvark - and Shoes found one, only for it to disappear down its hole before any of us saw it!
The only one of our camps to use trackers, and as a result the one with the best game. Mark got a birthday cake and a song! And please pass on our thanks for forwarding the adaptor we left behind, which arrived later by personal delivery on our plane to Kanana!"

Shinde Camp
"Not the best time to be at Shinde?"
No-one was in overall charge; there were 3 young trainee managers who were all very polite but didn't always respond to requests. The wild life was mixed: not much to see on the boat trips and the game drives had been affected by a large bush fire three months ago - this meant no small mammals but easy to see the big game without the normal long grass.
But the main problem was our guide - he seemed grumpy and it felt like he didn't want to be doing the job. We tried hard to make a connection with him, but it was difficult and we certainly didn't feel looked after, as we did in the other 2 camps. But we enjoyed the company of other guests and the plentiful good food!"

Kanana
"Another very well run camp at Kanana"
Our guide Kenny was great - very knowledgable and willing to find what we were interested in - including stopping a game drive to take us out on the boat to see Pels fishing owl, when it had been spotted. Water trips were very good, especially to the heronry.
We were there on Botswana independence day, so we were treated to the national anthem (twice! - second time with us singing from a sheet!), a wonderful dinner, and a moving speech by Aubrey (another guide) on his pride in his country. A good mix of game, birds, lovely camp, great people."

Jardin D'Ebene, Cape Town (Not currently featured by Expert Africa)
"Jardin D'Ebene - great B&B in Cape Town"
Lots of good restaurants and bars within safe walking distance. We upgraded to a bigger room as we were there for 5 nights, which was definitely worth it. Good sized room with huge bathroom (the Buffalo room). Breakfasts were enormous and interesting! The only suggestion would be to offer tea and coffee making facilities either in the room or in the common areas: it would have been good to make a cuppa when coming back in the afternoon or evening."

Game drives were comparatively 'tame' although we enjoyed the walking safari to the white rhino project. Boats trips on the Zambezi were fun, and of course Vic Falls was very impressive, even though not much water at this time of year.
Good place to spend a couple of days."
