My Aug 2012 trip
Zambia between 17 Aug 2012 and 27 Aug 2012
"We were very pleased with our holiday. Everything worked out smoothly and it exceeded our expectations.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
Perhaps a couple of comments on the trip notes. We arrived on time in Lusaka early on Saturday morning, but immigration was dreadful at nearly 1.5 hours and we were worried we would miss the connecting flight; the notes don't give any advice on what to do if that happens. Further, the banks were shut at that time so it wasn't possible to change dollars. However, after the initial panic we were told we could pay the internal departure fees by credit card (Visa or Mastercard). And that proved to be true at Livingstone as well as Lusaka. Making that clear in the notes would have lessened the stress somewhat."

Chongwe River Camp
"Chongwe River Camp review"

"We enjoyed our time at Chongwe. The facilities weren't as upmarket as at Sausage Tree, but the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere pleasantly informal.
Safaris, river trips and canoeing were all excellent. We loved our guide (Sam) but it was really good to be able to talk to the other guides at the bar and over dinner and go on some excursions such as walking and canoeing with them.
The only small gripe I have is that the wine at dinner could have been better."

Sausage Tree Camp
"Sausage Tree Camp review"
3 nights
Arrived

"Sausage Tree has quite a different feel to Chongwe. The facilities are more upmarket and the camp management is very impressive. We particularly appreciated the efforts made to do some things differently such as lunch in the river (lilterally) and breakfast and dinner in the bush.
It's very hard to find any fault with Sausage Tree. The one area where I feel Chongwe had an edge was in the atmosphere they managed to foster between guests, management and guiding staff by assiduous mingling at the bar and over dinner."

The swimming pool was unheated and surprisingly cold in August. Despite 28C air temperatures , very few if any were willing to brave the pool."
