Botswana May 2012
Botswana between 21 May 2012 and 1 Jun 2012
"Thank you for organising a great holiday which all four of us enjoyed.
Suggestion - We would have liked to stay overnight in Maun to have a little experience of a Botswana town. May I also suggest a little phonetic crib sheet for speaking a little Setswana. It may be me but I found they usually did not understand my effotrts
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
I think I would have liked a little more direction about camps. It was our first time in Botswana and I did not realise that I chose three camps very close in area. If /when we go again I would chose camps in more different areas. I certainly would have liked say 2 nights on the Chobe waterfront and perhaps 2 nights to have a chance to see Rhinos. However these are quibbles becasue we saw a vast range of animals in their natural habitats including good viewing of leopard, cheetahs and wild dogs. Thank you for all the work your team did"

Lebala Camp

"A very good camp but after Kwala we did not find it as friendly and not the great atmosphere as Kwala. It was a bit more luxurious than Kwala but this was not what we were looking for. Our guides were good but not as good as Kwala and definitely not such a friendly atmosphere. However it was a good camp with fantastic sightings of leopards and wild dogs.
The biggest downside for us was the vehicles which, we think, need to be upgraded by the owners (they own Kwala as well). They were three abreast instead of three rows of two and had very hard suspension"

Shinde Footsteps
"Footsteps"
3 nights
Arrived

"This was the top camp for us because it was more basic where we shared the bush with the staff in a very small group. However it was not booked up and I fear that many travellers want the comparative luxury of other camps. The camp is without a booking 15 days in June and I fear for the economics of the operation.
Kwala is apparently mid range and not luxurious compared to many camps but it seemed to have every mod con to us. A walking safari is exciting as one gets close to nature, can breathe and hear the bush and its noises and there is no roar of engines of three vehicles chasing lions or dogs etc
A great experience with an excellent guide and the manager and 4 staff who looked after us. We have one quibble. Presumably to save money we flew to the Shinde airstrip as they own Footsteps. If we had flown to the Kwara airstrip it would have halved the 3 and half hour road journey to Footsteps"
