Kwihala Camp
"Kwihala Camp review"
Our guide, Steve Roskelly was a true expert of all things 'bush' and great company at a social level. This camp was more for the specialist/adventure seeker rather than those who would just want to relax and get the occasional game drive. We were organised for 05.30 starts, what a pain, but soon realised that it was essential to get the best out the limited time.
Evening meals to the roar of lions in the vicinity, massive millipedes crawling up the tent walls! The high altitude and damper climate gave a rich diversity of flora and fauna than I have seen on previous safaris with diverse insect and plant life in addition to the usual big game.
The dense bush gave a few surprises - leopard, as we rounded a corner on a dirt road; elephant interrupted in passage at 6m distant with testosterone charged male but we 'escaped' by sitting tight until things calmed; buffalo at close quarters: we felt safe with Steve!
An experience of a lifetime - would love to do it all over again!!"

"Selous Safari Camp review"
The area is more populous with safari operators than at Ruaha so you do not get the same feeling of isolation and hence be prepared to meet others when interesting opportunities are available e.g hunting dog sitings with the massed ranks of vehicles racing to the appropriate spot (the word is out folks!) but this does not necessarily detract from the overall experience.
We particularly enjoyed the boat trips with much birdlife in evidence and fishing for catfish being hemmed in by hippo on one side and crocs on the other with binoculars scanning constantly. Catfish cooked for dinner! No pressure here, you can lounge by the pool if you want or do the game thing just as you wish"

Ras Kutani, Tanzania (this camp has since closed)
"Ras Kutani review"
Robinson Crusoe would have loved the spot but clearly would not have recognised the unadulterated luxury! The ultimate chill-out spot for those who are happy to do little but lounge, swim and eat. The isolated location and arrival by boat add to the feeling.
We thought the couple of days was adequate to round off the overall trip."

Slipway 'resort' itself rather tired with only saving grace the Waterfront restaurant with good service and food. Things at the hotel improved with the discovery of an Italian manageress who got things moving, Local staff basically need a well aimed rocket! Little of interest at Slipway other than a bed for the night!"
