Chikoko Tree Camp
"Sleeping amongst the trees........."
2 nights
Arrived
18 Jul 2013
"........ with Elephants below.
From Tafika, a short drive to the river crossing (Crocodile Crossing point) then punted across the Luanga. A very pleasant few hours walking to Chikoko Camp in the company of our Guide (Alex), NP Scout (Alex 2), Justin the Tea-bearer and one other guest.
The camp is smaller and more intimate than Tafika but just as stylish and in another beautiful setting. The food and hospitality is also of the same high standard.
Walking on foot, you may not get the same frequency of large animal encounters. But the intensity of the encounters more than makes up for this. We came across Hyenas and Vultures on an Elephant carcass, and being at eye level to a Hyena certainly makes you feel alive. It was lovely to appreciate the scenery and also to learn about tracks and droppings."

Mwaleshi Camp
"To wade across the Mwaleshi river .........."
4 nights
Arrived
20 Jul 2013
"....... returning to camp with hot feet was so refreshing.
Light aircraft transfer (from airstrip near to Tafika) only took 30 mins and was so smooth, thanks to our pilot Gareth. Then another pleasant walk to camp. On the way encountering Cookson's Wildebeest and a large lone Hippo, who had many wounds and looked to be on his last legs.
Mwaleshi is in another stunning setting with wildlife all around. With it's remoteness you certainly feel to be in the 'wilds' of Africa. It is truly wonderful.
The same excellent standards of the other Remote Africa camps and such tasty meals from the kitchen. Amazed at the bread and cakes produced from an oven in the ground.
We had mainly walks here, but also used the 4x4 a few times. With our guide Brent explaining the relationships between the landscape, flora and fauna and Special constantly on the look-out. We experienced wonderful encounters as a result of their knowledge and expertise. Mwaleshi camp gave us our most moving 'African' bush experiences of the trip."

Sindabezi
"A luxurious end to our honeymoon"
2 nights
Arrived
24 Jul 2013
"A short drive (30 mins) from the airport to Tongabezi Lodge. We had a long lunch at Tongabezi, enjoying the views over the Zambezi, before our 10 min boat ride to the island.
Sindabezi is in such a beautiful and serene setting, and our room was gorgeous. We decided to make the most of our personal valet, Charles, and had all our meals served on our balcony. Overlooking the national park on the Zimbabwe side, it was an idyllic view.
After reassurances from Charles that there would be no passing river traffic, we made use of the enormous bath with a bottle of bubbly under the stars.
Of the outings we took part in, the only negative comment is regarding the trip to Livingstone Island. It was that lunch just went on a bit too long for us. This was our only full day in Livingstone and we were impatient to get on and do other things. The views of the falls were most impressive from the island, so worth the trip for that.
Whilst at Sindabezi, these travellers enjoyed a 28 minute helicopter flight over the Victoria Falls, this is what they said about it:
This was excellent. Just the two of us and Jay the pilot. As well as many circuits over the falls, you also fly 'into' the gorge and then circling over wildlife in the game reserve.
Unbeatable views. The trip is filmed, so you can have a wonderful keepsake to take home."

Tafika is in such beautiful and romantic setting. Having breakfast around a wood fire on a fresh morning, overlooking the river at sunrise, was divine.
Wonderful hospitality and lovely meals, we certainly did not feel second best being veggies. The enormous bed (with equally enormous mosquito net) and 'twin showers' were a treat.
Excellent game drives. Never more than four to a vehicle, everyone had uninterrupted views Fantastic wildlife experiences, with our guides sharing their vast knowledge."
