A fantastic holiday in Zambia
Zambia between 18 Aug 2011 and 27 Aug 2011
"It was a great return to Africa this time with two relatives one of which is elderly and the other infirm. The Robin Pope camps went out of their way to help in every way they could - nothing seemed to be too much trouble, I hope they keep up this standard now they have been taken over.
Would have spent more time at Nkwali (3 rather than 2 nights) to start the holiday.
Saw a lot more game/birds than our last visit which was 6 weeks earlier in the season (2004)."

Tena Tena
"Return to Tena Tena"
2 nights

"A contrast with Nkwali as Tena Tena gives you a real sense that you are in the bush.
Much better without the electric fence, but disappointed that the camp no longer has a river view.
Tent zips were not great (often got stuck)
Nice touch to do the fizzy wine event in the bush
Lovely that the antelopes roamed throughout the camp"

"The best of the Robin Pope camps - excellent location in the park with amazing views.
Only room for improvement is to make the shower floors less slippery and provide more screening around the toilet.
Very impressed throughout all Robin Pope camps with the quality of the guiding, the friendliness of the camp staff and the helpfulness of the hostesses (Harriet, Emma and Alice)"

Eight Reedbuck Hotel, Zambia (this camp has since closed)
"Overnight stay at the 8 Reedbuck"

"Very nice hotel 30 mins from Lusaka airport in a safe/secure location. Friendly staff and really interesting rooms decorated in Zambian tribal style.
Only let down by very slow service at dinner, although they did have a large business event on at the time.
Expert Africa (Lucy) said that we could have breakfast before our trip home and on arrival we were told that this was not possible (at 5:30am). However the hotel organised breakfast in our rooms.
Overall a pleasant place to stay on the way home and much better than flying back via Jo'burg."

We had a local play put on for us which was wonderful.
Double shower and washbasins very useful (and fully screened toilet)"
