Great experience, unforgettable highlights
Namibia between 25 Jun 2011 and 2 Jul 2011
"The whole trip was excellent - well planned, organised and executed.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
We had not been on a safari-type holiday before so I don't know if the Wilderness approach to engaging with the local staff is unusual, or whether that is just the Namibian way. It was all a pleasant surprise, although maybe a bit more information before travel about the Wilderness organisation might have been helpful and interesting.
The Namibia guidebook supplied before travel was great."

"This was the highlight of the holiday for us. We loved the relaxed informality, the friendliness of the staff, and above all the peace and beauty of the location. We were there for three nights - the first two were quiet, and the place was full for the third night. Every day was great.
The elephant tracking was very exciting, especially as the elephants were hard to find! The boma 'surprise' outdoor dining was a great way to meet the other guests, and we liked the family table where everyone dined together and shared the day's stories. The staff were great, especially Maggie and PG, and our guide Albert was exceptional - patient, knowledgeable, and just right for this idyllic spot.
Our only comment is that the guided walks on offer were too short and easy (although the climb to watch the sun rise was a never-to-be-forgotten highlight). This place has a fantastic potential for longer and more interesting walking trails."

"Slightly jaded review for this as I got food poisoning on the last day, so after the morning game drive spent the rest of the day in bed. This was more of a return to 'real world' tourism after Damaraland, and although it was fun to see the Big 5 it did not have the excitement of tracking the elephants in Damaraland.
The reserve and game park are obviously well-stocked and managed. Perhaps the jaded view was shaped by the illness, but I think my husband would agree. Not going to comment on the food as I don't know if it was that that made me ill. Different focus here, as it felt like a much bigger lodge and the staff were not so personally engaging."

Having said this the staff were all fantastic, especially the temporary manager Gregory, and our guide Abner was knowledgeable, helpful and fun. The room was great - perhaps the whole place was a little 'over designed' for our tastes, but nevertheless a fantastic lodge and a great place to start the visit.
Incidentally your notes about additional charges for certain types of drinks - spirits and SA wines - were inaccurate. We were not charged for anything extra throughout the whole visit."
