Impala Camp
"Selous Impala camp riverbank safari"
3 nights
Arrived

"This was a bit upmarket from Mdonya. Very well done and lovely tents, well equipped apart from squeaky beds.
The location by the river is wonderful and the place seemed well run. We again had an exceptional guide, Saning'o and similarly the driver, Makubi. The only thing we were not so comfortable with at Impala was private dining. It gave us less chance to mix with other guests (many of whom were saying just the same to us), and, although the waiters were very good, the whole atmosphere was a little 'over fussy'.
On arrival we had been told by Barbara, the manager, that the staff had agreed to sharing of pooled tips, although we could tip personally, as well, if we wanted. We felt that it created difficulties with certain members of staff expecting individual tips, although we did tip a few members of staff individually for what they did for us. In fact, we found the whole tipping procedure at both camps not easy."

Impala fly-camp
"Selous Impala fly camp great adventure"
2 nights
Arrived
18 Sep 2011
"We went for 2 nights fly camping from Impala, and that was an amazing experience. A brilliantly run set-up and we enjoyed it enormously.
We were by a lake and the hippos and giraffes wandered around us quite happily. We had expected we would be 'roughing it', but quite the contrary. Everything was provided and the staff were outstanding.
To be able to sit by a camp fire, chatting with our guide under millions of stars and to see a leopard going to drink at the lake says it all."

Southern Sun Dar
"Southern Sun - back to civilization"

"Very good hotel, absolutely no problems. Staff were helpful and we had all the facilities we needed.
We had no time to do anything in Dar, so it was merely a night stopover, and it provided everything we needed."

The layout of the camp was excellent - wonderfull to have the animals wandering around the camp. The management was excellent - Alex was outstanding and the staff generally were a great team. Our guide, Kahimba, was superb, very knowledgable and gave us a very good understanding of the environment, as well as taking us to animals with his exceptional tracking skills.
The whole atmosphere in the camp was very good - other guests were relaxed and easy and we enjoyed to social bits of the camp, particularly eating as a group. The tents were well appointed and equipped, and very comfortable."
