"Great trip"

I visited Botswana and 1 other country between 16 Apr 2011 and 30 Apr 2011
"This was an excellent trip. I was travellilng alone I would really recommend it for other solo travellers.

Everything worked like clockwork, I was well looked after by camp staff and guides and had some great experiences. Because the camps are small and organised so that you all eat together I met some really interesting people and had a great time.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

You might add that it is worth taking a beanie hat for the cold - I had to buy one in the Kalahari. Also not being used to taiylor made trips I needed to ask if I had to get a taxi from Victoria Falls Airport to my hotel - it was not clear from the itinerary that there would be driver there for me. Otherwise it was all fine." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 11 on a Botswana safari

"Overall comments"

I visited Botswana between 14 Feb 2011 and 2 Mar 2011
"We are experienced safari travellers and therefore do not go overboard with comments.

We know what we expect from certain areas we visit and plan our locations with the objective of seeing particular types of animal and bird.

We also know that "nothing is guaranteed".

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Regarding the "I can't comment" fields, I have not used your website much at all - perhaps I should have done - I tend to rely on direct telephone contact with the EA staff. On quotations, again I discuss at length with the staff to get the location and accommodation which I think meets our needs and is right on price." "Namibia and Botswana"

I visited Botswana and 1 other country between 29 Sep 2010 and 14 Oct 2010
"We know now that in Namibia we should have included The Skeleton Coast. We didn't know when we booked our holiday!

Selinda Camp was by far the best experience of the holiday, for us it was the perfect safari destination. Maybe because it is privately owned, it had that extra something? It was not nearly as expensive as Little Mombo, but it definitely had a 'magic ingredient'.

Last year we went to Lion Camp in Zambia, which is also on our favourite camp list, this is also privately owned, but again not on the silly cost list - so next time we book we will go for privately owned smaller camps.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

We would definitely use Expert Africa again." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 8 on a Botswana safari

"Okavango Delta Visit 5"

I visited Botswana between 1 Sep 2010 and 16 Sep 2010
"Anyone who can put up with being fed 6 times a day, bone shaken in a Landrover or baked in the sun in a motorboat/mokoro must be mad but we keep going back because we absolutely love it. Expert Africa's planning and execution were, as ever, faultless. Any criticisms of the camps must be viewed in the light of consistently high standards across the board and are made when things are 99.9% rather than 101%.

This was the first time we had noticed a significant difference between the Wilderness Classic camps in tems of room size and facilities. It might be worth making this point in the brochure. People will still go because each camp has its unique charm or attraction.

This year was special because the annual flood was so high that there was still considerable water in places normally dry in September and a lot of the big game has moved. Is it worth considering bringing major weather/natural events to client attention in time for them to perhaps change their itinerary? We planned wet, dry, wet, dry and were not disappointed but we met a number of guests (not Expert Africa) who were deeply disappointed that they had been expecting the big 5 and had to be satisfied with mostly birds.

We had another 5 star holiday. Thank you. In overview, both Xigera and Tubu Tree feted us with extra activities. Jacana had none, not even a traditional evening while the 4 nights ay Chitabe Lediba provided just a traditional evening. Interesting contrast reflecting management styles?" "Loved every minute."

I visited Botswana between 31 Aug 2010 and 18 Sep 2010
"We were very pleased with Lucy's planning.

Wonderful wildlife experience - and we have learnt a lot. Now to sort the photos - some of which are truly fantastic e.g. looking down the throuat of a yawning lion, and, later, a cheetah too, ellephant having a dust bath after their wallow - a never-ending list!

"Superb Safari Experience"

I visited Botswana between 22 May 2010 and 3 Jun 2010
"Expert Africa's arrangements all went perfectly. The camps we visited at their suggestion were all very good and we'd happily recommend all of them.

We would like to thank Lucy in particular. We were affected by the BA strike and though we had booked our flights independantly, Lucy was quick to assist us with reserving SAA flights as an alternative, should they be required; she also did some last minute research on camps in Maun, with the associated flight changes, in case we needed to bring our trip forward due to the strike.

Everything went smoothly, each camp knew when we were due to move on and informed us of flight times and our guides were always waiting for us at the airstrips. It was professional and reassuring.

As a holiday, it exceeded our expectations. We had limited experience of safari from a trip to Namibia two years earlier. In Botswana, we loved how we quickly felt at home at the camps and we lost track of the days. Each day was so full that something that we saw the morning before felt like days ago and by the time we left each camp (particularly the Kwando concessions) we felt like we'd been there a week and become part of the furniture.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

No - everything worked well except issues with our e-mails being rejected as junk." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 9 on a Botswana safari

"A great experience - would do it all again"

I visited Botswana and 2 other countries between 11 Mar 2010 and 27 Mar 2010
"We were very pleased with the overall selection of camps and the pacing of the holiday generally. We felt that going to the Kalahari first was a good move as it might have seemed a bit low key if we had ended here. The efficiency of the transfer arrangements including help with immigration was outstanding.

The advice regarding the "green season" was good and we have no regrets about going at this time. We only had two occasions when the heavens opened and one of the game drives had to be abandoned. Several times we had spectacular lightning without any rain. Viewing at the Victoria Falls was restricted due to the very high water levels.

It would have been nice to have spent a little time in Maun before flying onwards as it seems to be the centre of the universe as far as the Delta is concerned. The Kwando Safari organisation (including Moremi Air) seemed well organised and we liked their camps. We enjoyed meeting Sue Smart at Kwara.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

The warnings about space in passports for visas etc proved unnecessary. We took wet weather jackets but this was not really necessary as ponchos and umbrellas were provided at all camps." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 9 on a Botswana safari
