"Different sandunes"

"This was the second time we had done this trip but this was in a different season and was therefore a greatly contrasting but equally enjoyable experience.

Berger, the guide and driver was friendly, informative and knowledgeable, and also provided a splendid sea-shore lunch. A great day out." Read more about this whole safari

"What a great tour to Sandwich Harbour. Our guide Burger collected us at our hotel and we drove through Walvis Bay stopping to see the bird life on the way. We had an adventurous drive down along the coast to Sandwich Harbour stopping at points of interest pointed out by Burger. We stopped for a lovely lunch and climbed the sand dunes. We came back through the dunes, spotting Springbok and seals.

Burger was fun, knowledgeable and really made our day out more of an experience. Well worth the day out." Read more about this whole safari

"A day on the edge at Sandwich Harbour"

Based at Cornerstone Guesthouse on 15 Oct 2016
"Collected from our guesthouse by Birger, we were advised that we needed to hurry as there was a long journey to make before the tide turned. The route to Sandwich Harbour took us along the beach where we saw sea lions of all ages, wonderful pelicans and both greater and lesser flamingos. The desert dunes end here and are washed into vertical banks by the tide. We passed the deserted and sand filled former whaling station and reached the lagoon where we were given time to explore or climb one of the dunes.

The return journey turned out to be quite a race against the incoming tide. The beach had all but disappeared and there were hair raising moments when Birger had to time our progress with the advancing waves. We made it unscathed and stormed up and down the dunes to reach a viewpoint where a delicious homemade lunch with soft drinks emerged from the back of the truck.

The final part of the return journey was through the ugly salt works. Not the fault of the tour company." Read more about this whole safari

"Highlight of our trip, beway to see the dunes"

Based at Lagoon Lodge on 14 Oct 2016
"Our tour was led by Bruno Nebar, the world famous wildlife biologist and rhino breeder. We were unaware of his fame until almost the end of the trip but by then we were not surprised given the knowledge he flooded us with over the course of the day.

Our trip was very fun, as it was a small group of just 6 of us, including two Expert Africa employees, and the whole group was pleasant and appreciative of the overall experience. From the morning drive to Sandwich Harbor racing against the tide to follow the beach we never had a dull moment. Bruno shared so much information about plants, history, wildlife, weather, local mining industry, that it took me 6 pages of notes at the end of the day just to capture the highlights.

We had some difficulties getting up the dunes, Bruno had to take several runs at the main exit route but between his attitude and everyone else on the trip we all ended up enjoying ourselves immensely. Bruno's demeanor actually helped keep me calm, despite my tendency to fear of heights and car sickness, and in hindsight it was probably a much scarier outing then I realized while participating in it." "Berger was inspirational"

Based at Cornerstone Guesthouse on 26 Sep 2016
"We had been to Sandwich Harbour before but this was a fresh approach. Berger was knowledgable about everything from the environment to the economy. His dune driving was memorable indeed.

A small drink of fresh water, procured by his digging a hole in the sand by hand within a few metres of the sea, was memorable. Jackals, seals and springbok complemented the array of flamingoes and cormorants among other birds.

The lunch beside the sea was very good with hot lasagne and wine.

A good trip, professionally run" Read more about this whole safari

"Adventure day out on coast and dunes."

Based at Lagoon Lodge on 14 Sep 2016
"On Expert africa recommendation, this prebooked trip, in two landrovers, 4 people in each, was excellent, enhanced by misjudgement of tide which forced return over dunes rather than beach return. Fabulous views. Guides/drivers excellent, ours English expat.
Good lunch on dunes.

Next day left early for long drive via Cape Cross and Skeleton coast park to Doro Niwas. 8 hrs driving, 9.5hrs total. Saw only 2 vehicles in park. Well worth the effort. Best sector of trip. Good road surface until nearing Twyfelfontein area." Read more about this whole safari

"Spectacular trip!"

Based at Strand Hotel on 21 Aug 2016
"This was one of our top highlights of the trip. Our guide was excellent, very funny and very knowledgeable.

We loved every minute of this day trip, the kids in particular loved hiking up the sand dunes and running dow them! Sandwich harbour itself, and the drive along the beach, is simply stunning and the sun came out for us at 12pm. Spectacular and a delicious lunch also.

Huge thanks to Expert Africa for having advised us to do this." Read more about this whole safari
